Days of Our Lives - Days of our Lives’ Stephen Nichols in New Play!

Fans of Stephen Nichols may miss seeing Patch on a regular basis on Days of Our Lives lately, but rest assured, the actor is keeping busy. Preparing to hit the stage in February, Stephen is set to appear in the play, “American Suite” in Venice, California. The play, written by his wife Lisa, will feature 5 vignettes (one of which Stephen will star in), each based in a different American location. “American Suite” can be seen at the Pacific Resident Theatre located at 703, 705 ½ and 707 Venice Blvd. The show will run February 5 – 22 at 8:00 PM on Thursdays and Fridays and 3:00 PM on Sundays. A big Soaps.com congrats to Eric Braeden [Victor Newman], on the latest news regarding his movie, The Man Who Came Back. It seems that Eric's film, which he executive-produced and starred in, came in at the top of the rental list over the holiday season! Soaps.com spoke to Eric about the movie before Christmas, and we are thrilled to hear that it also garnered a spot on the Top Ten Video Sales list for non-theatrical releases! Go Eric! General Hospital - General Hospital Writer has New Pet Project (With GH actors!).

Karen Harris has been writing soaps since 1993. Since then, she's penned for "General Hospital," spin-off "Port Charles," Primetime spin-off "Night Shift" and All My Children. In addition to all that, she has created something new that she'd like Soaps.com readers to check out. It's a fabulously complex (and hilarious) online project, with a behind-the-scenes wink at how soaps come together. "Greenville General" is a soap opera, and its companion piece, "Life in General" is a show within a show that gives the behind-the-scenes story about making the soap. Got it? Before I say more, give yourself a couple of minutes and check out the two following clips, then I'll give you the skinny from my interview with Karen. You'll enjoy seeing soap vets, especially Lindze Letherman (ex-Georgie Jones), John Ingle (Edward Quartermaine) and Scott Clifton (ex-Dillon Quartermaine). Okay, you can go now. Since the launch of the two soaps on Strike TV in late October, "Life in General" has been nominated for five Soap Opera Spirit Awards (a Canadian TV Guide competition). I can see why, as a life-long soap fan, it was hilarious to see how TPTB (as we so often refer to the people who put soaps together) bicker and stress over what we eventually see on our TV screens. Soaps.com: Karen, is seems as if "Life in General" is the best of all worlds for you creatively. Am I Right? Karen Harris: Yes, it's an opportunity to execute my own view, my own humor, and my own drama. I'm not making something to sell products. No one's there to say it's not good enough, except the viewers. They're the ones who will decide whether it's worthy or not. I've had such a great response and feel that people are hungry for it. Soaps.com: General Hospital fans will especially enjoy seeing some of their favorite actors, albeit in other roles. Can you tell us a little about John Ingle's character, Raymond? Karen Harris: I love John Ingle. We have a secret love affair but it's not so secret. He can do anything. Edward Q. is wonderful character, such fun to write because he's bold and brassy. Raymond is supposed to represent the iconic people who helped create the soap opera in the first place. They're watching younger people come up behind them and are threatened by it. They try to hang out to what they've created. For them, it's harder to make the adjustment to new ways. I'm not sure that Raymond would be flexible enough to create a soap for the internet. The world of daytime drama is changing and I wanted to show that there's a place for us to tell our stories online. I'm sure people in radio freaked out when TV came, I feel the same way about the internet. Raymond made that transition from TV to radio, he could retire, but he can't do it. He's so in love with his characters. He's disconnected from his real world and is hanging on at all costs to what he created on the show. He's not as openly hostile as Edward Quartermaine. His vulnerabilities are way more evident than Edward's. Soaps.com: How about Lindze Letherman as Maddie Whittaker? Karen Harris: I wanted to give Lindze a chance to be something other than a straight ahead good girl. Maddie is a bit of a minx, she's a young actress who isn't as naive as you think. She's thrown into the soap world figuring that she'll be a star at some point, not knowing that these girls are very disposable. For every Lindsay Lohan there's another one who gets thrown out the door who we never hear from again. The character Lindze plays on "Greenville General" is more like Georgie was, a heartfelt character who is a nurse. It's a real challenge for these actors to take on two distinctly different characters and Lindsay is up to it.

General Hospital - Soaps.com Squashes Another General Hospital Rumor!

While various internet sources are reporting that SOAPnet has pulled the plug on a third season of "Night Shift," Soaps.com went straight to ABC before perpetuating the rumor. "We haven't made a decision yet either way, so there's nothing to report," the ABC representative told Soaps.com. SOAPnet premiered "General Hospital: Night shift" during the summer of 2007 and aired a second season in 2008. Vets from General Hospital's days gone by peppered the canvas making the already popular soap even more of a reason for soap fans to tune in during Primetime. ("Night Shift" aired on Tuesday nights at 11:00 PM.) Original cast members from General Hospital are Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio), Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake), Sonya Eddy (Epiphany Johnson), with Billy Dee Williams (Toussaint Dubois) appearing in both seasons as well. Antonio Sabato Jr. (Jagar Cates) signed on for the second season. Vets appearing for the two-part finale last fall were Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio), Finola Hughes (Anna Devane), Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer), John J. York (Mac Scorpio), Leslie Charleson (Dr. Monica Quartermaine), John Reilly (Sean Donely) and Sharon Wyatt (Tiffany Hill). At this point, no news is good news for "Night Shift" fans. Now would be a good time to let your voice be heard!

Days of Our Lives - Days Of Our Lives Weekly Blog!

These are the "DAYS" of my week for December 29- January 2: Though Candace did the thoughts last Friday and though I posted thoughts for the entire year, there are still things to say for the past week… Random thoughts: How do Stephanie and Chloe know each other? They don't. Why would Chloe go to Stephanie and tell her that she thinks she and Philly are rebounding. Shaddup, tramp, er. I mean Chloe. Mind your own men. I like Mary, the DiMera maid. She's cute. I’d still like to see Hilda around Salem, after Sami’s out of the safe house. Not as a housekeeper but as something or other… New Year's Eve wasn't much fun, in my humble opinion. I had higher expectations, and that's my own fault! It seemed to last from 11:45-12:15, maybe 12:45. The time line is always out of whack in soaps but I noticed it more on the 31st. Few odd bits: New Year's Eve Stephanie had a hair mishap. She’s so young and cute that I’d have liked to see her in a more hip look. Holy sizzling champagne. Did you hear it? I couldn't make out what was said in the scene with Kate and Daniel at the Kiriakis mansion, NYE. I heard the champagne bottle pop, then sizzzzzle, fizzle....sizzzle....went on for hours it seemed and then Daniel says something and Kate says, “Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't ruin this with your self-effacing blah blah,” the shhhh went on for eons. The whole scene weirded me out and I didn’t catch what was said. Good thing I wasn’t the one writing it! Kate tells Doc Hands that she's now immune to his charms and has no more desire for him, so look for her to end that relationship, early next week. Out of Rafe's mouth: Rafe’s got a new saying. “It is what it is.” Old-John used to have “And that's a fact.” Bo's got “Fricken.” Victor Newman's (The Young and the Restless) got “You got that?” Now Rafe's got “It is what it is.” He said it twice already! Sami and Agent Mind-reader continued to argue over Christmas and the FBI agent didn't figure out what all of us have already figured out, that Sami's going to give up EJ's kid for adoption. Even when Sami practically told him what her plans were, the FBI agent still couldn't put two and two together, and then we finally see it dawn on him, but he refuses to let Sami give up her kid. Eh? How is this any of his business? Oh and according to EJ, we've got one or two more months of this, which puts Sami at 7 months along. Ugh! Please end it now. They've got Sami thinking she can give up her kid for a short time, which is ludicrous. Sure Sami, drop the kiddo off at the orphanage for a few months and then go back and get her or him… how horrible! Oh, and obviously the child is a girl, since Nicole’s was a girl and we all think that Nicole will end up with Sami’s baby. That’s not a fact, nor is it foreshadowing. Just a thought. Funniest line of the week – Sami -“I was raised Catholic. My faith means something to me.” What that is, we don't know. Hypocrite. Rafe called EJ a mobster, which threw me. EJ's not a mobster. Is EJ a mobster? Are you laughing? I suppose Stefano is “supposed to be” one. I don't think the show has ever referred to Stefano as a mobster! Nic and the baby broker:Watching the Nicole and Doc Callahan scenes were painful, as usual. He's not much of a character. Can they get on with this already? We now know he's a baby broker, which doesn't make a lot of sense, considering he could have offered Nicole a baby at any time. Not just that but it has had me wondering if Nicole's baby really is dead or if he sold it. Nic’s little elf: Brady showed up for Nic and EJ’s party after midnight. Nobody called him to cancel? And why did she cancel? Just because EJ was working? Who cares!? The party must go on. Not like he wouldn’t make it back in time for a few drinks. Victor, Brady and Philly: I don't get the animosity. Phil made a mistake, sure, deciding not to use Melanie's (Nick's) alternative fuel project, but why is this being carried on? Its one issue out of what appears to be a perfect record and Victor fires him? It makes no sense - I like Victor as a villain and all but they should have had Philip piss Victor off more than that to have him at his throat so much. Victor fired both Brady and Philly, but I didn't really catch why. Because they're not yes men? That's Philly's theory and he's got a point. The only cool part about this is that Brady and Philly are going against Victor, which means we'll see more Vic and more drama.
